Alumnus Trager Hintze (’13) Joins Faculty at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine
Southern Virginia University alumnus Trager Hintze (’13) is joining the ranks of faculty at the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine as an assistant professor of pharmacology, pursuing his dream to train the next generation of medical students to safely and effectively use medication.

Ben Burningham (’09) has been appointed Wyoming’s first Chancery Court judge, presiding over a specialized statewide court designed to streamline the resolution of commercial, business, and trust cases. His appointment went into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.

Russell Watson’s Unexpected Dental Journey and SVU Connection
Russell Watson (’23) wasn’t planning on becoming a dentist when he started his undergraduate, but after several unexpected series of events, he is now part of the inaugural class at Lyon College’s brand new School of Dental Medicine. A program that coincidentally is being shaped by another Southern Virginia University alumnus: Burke Soffe, the school’s inaugural dean.

When Ella Foutz (’24) was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in high school, she turned to writing as a way to make sense of her experience. One night, in a rush of creativity, she began putting her thoughts into words–a moment that would later inspire her debut poetry collection, “Lullabies for the Insomniacs,” set to be released November 4, 2025 by Lerner Publishing Group.
